Mattapan Tech's Summer Program For Children And Teens
Mattapan Tech’s Summer Educational Program includes basic electronics, computer coding and robotics.
* The coding program is designed to introduce young individuals, from 8-11 years old, to basic coding skills needed to write detailed instructions for a computer at an early age. The participants will learn how to write basic programs, make their own computer games and more.
*The electronics program is designed to teach participants, from the ages of 12-15, about basic electronic components and their functions: transistors, inductors, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits. Participants will also learn how to build, troubleshoot and repair electronic devices. Each participant will have the choice to build a radio, a TV or a robot to bring home after the completion of the program.
*The robotics program will teach participants, how to build basic robots using the LEGO Education WeDo Robotics Kit. This simple robotics tool is designed for children from 8–11years old. The children will be able to design and build their own robots, and then program the robots using Scratch.
The summer program will run from 10:00am -1:00pm, Monday to Thursday.
The Coding program will begin on Monday, July 9, 2018 to end on Thursday, July 19, 2018. The Robotic and electronic programs will start on July 23 to end on August 3, 2018
Our summer program is completely free and sponsored only by Mattapan Tech. Seats are very limited, we expect to serve a total of 45 young people. All applications should be submitted by June 12, 2018 and the selected participants will be announced on Monday, June 25th.
