The
Mattapan Tech Fiber-Optic Communication Technician
Program consists of a 12-day fiber optic tech course
designed for anyone interested in becoming a Certified
Fiber Optic Technician.
The
Mattapan School of Technology Fiber
Optic Training combines 25% classroom theory and 75%
hands-on activities to prepare the students to take
the CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic
Technician) test.
This
course also introduces the student:

To
industry standards pertaining to running Fiber
optic cable to home and office building, To
elementary and high school
-
To
Zone Vs. Distribution Cabling
-
To
different fiber types and how to deal with various
connectors used in the fiber optic industry
-
Leadership
and team building.
By
the end of the program we expect all students to know
how to install, terminate, splice, and test fiber
optic cable. The Mattapan Tech FOC program
exposes students to the history of fiber optics and
fiber optics capabilities.
Students
will have the opportunity to participate in real work
environment testing and troubleshooting fiber optic
cables.
FOCT
is a well paid and hot job opportunities.
All
students must pass both the written
and hands on exams to successfully pass this course.
Upon successful completion of the
program, the students who are qualified will receive a
certificate from Mattapan Tech and ready to take their
certification test.
The
Mattapan Tech welcomes anyone who is interested in a
career as a
Certified Fiber Optics Technician.
Prerequisites: Basic working
knowledge of computers and computer networking. Be
able to see and identify small items and able to speak
and understand and write the English language.
This
class is not available online.
The
tuition is $560 and must be paid in advance 6 weeks
before the class begins.
